Konon:kwe Council is a women-led community-based organization that exists to reconstruct the power of our origins through collaborative approaches to the care, empowerment, and transformation of a traumatized indigenous community.

Established in 2009 amid concerns about the increasing severity, frequency, and hidden nature of violence in Akwesasne, Konon:kwe Council works to develop and advance woman-centered policies that encourage engagement, education, and empowerment of leadership and people to end violence in the Mohawk community of Akwesasne.

Konon:kwe Council co-founders are a kinship circle of experienced activists and advocates for the sexual and reproductive health of Haudenosaunee people.

Konon:kwe Council is supported by The Native Youth Sexual Heath Network, as well as Running Strong for American Indian Youth and a grant from The Catalyst Fund
